Johanna Eichinger`s research interests include philosophical, political science oriented and sociological approaches to bioethics. She is especially interested in the intersection between moral, social and political questions evolving from genomics and new reproductive technologies. Johanna’s PhD project investigates the ethical, social and regulatory issues arising from the developments and applications of genome-wide sequencing in paediatrics. Johanna obtained degrees (MSc, MA/BA, Staatsexamen) in Bioethics, Political Science and Music from King’s College London, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Musikhochschule Freiburg, Germany.
Johanna holds several awards and scholarships such as the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine Postgraduate Scholarship of King´s College London, scholarships of DAAD, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Rotary International, Franco-Allemand Youth Office amongst others. Additionally, she gained both interdisciplinary and international experience through multiple long-term stays abroad (e.g. United Kingdom, France, Brazil and others) and working for NGOs on human rights and environmental politics issues.

Johanna Eichinger is currently working as a research assistant for the SolPan Project and at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics (IBMB) at the University of Basel. Prior she has been working as a policy advisor in the German Bundestag mainly on human rights and humanitarian aid topics.
